On the 7th February 2023, CHAD and the Faculty of Public Health hosted the third webinar of the 2022-23 series, that focused on interventions for women experiencing multiple disadvantage. We were delighted to have over 130 people join us.
Louisa Steele, the Housing First and Homelessness Programme Manager for Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse, shared invaluable insight into developing interventions to tackle women’s experiences of multiple disadvantage.
Drawing on a wealth of knowledge and experience, Louisa set the scene by discussing the conceptualisation of multiple disadvantage and how experiences of multiple disadvantage are gendered (including of domestic abuse and homelessness). The presentation included examples of their projects and partnerships, reflections on what works and practical advice. Priorities for systems change were also highlighted.
After the presentation, Louisa responded to questions posed by attendees which included: the impact of the national Everyone In campaign on women, specific elements of their Housing First project and reflections for the future. Feedback in the chat highlighted how informative and insightful attendees found it. We would encourage anyone involved in or interested in commissioning or providing support connected to multiple disadvantage to watch.
Louisa has kindly shared the slides for the presentation as well, which can be accessed here: Developing interventions to tackle women’s experiences of multiple disadvantage: The Housing First and Homelessness project.
