On 30th November, Centre for Health and Development (CHAD) and Faculty of Public Health (FPH hosted the second in a series of webinars relating to COVID-19, health impacts and inequalities: COVID-19 – Will new public health and care systems improve pandemic preparedness?
Delegates were treated to a wide-ranging, insightful and provocative discussion from two of the country’s leading voices in all matters public health, and health and social care: Roy Lilley and Professor Sian Griffiths. Chaired by Professor Zafar Iqbal, the presentations and subsequent discussion covered topics including: reasons for the lack of pandemic preparedness; the lack of investment in local authorities, NHS and public health infrastructures hampered the response; issues with the new public health systems, related independence and accountability.
