On 25th June 2021, the team hosted an interactive webinar to present the findings from the RIsk COmmunication in NHS Health Check study (RICO). NHS Health Check (NHSHC) is a national cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention programme. There is limited evidence regarding how NHSHCs are conducted, how CVD risk is communicated, and the impact of using different CVD risk calculators on communication. Therefore, the RICO study aimed to explore practitioner and patient understanding of CVD risk, associated advice or treatment offered by the practitioner, and response of the patients in Health Checks supported by either the QRISK®2 or JBS3 risk calculators.
Over 50 delegates attended the webinar, representing a range of professionals from the NHS, Public Health England, local authority and third sector organisations, and academics. Following the presentation, attendees had the opportunity to ask questions, reflecting on the implications of the research and wider context.
The presentation was video recorded, which can be accessed here.
