CHAD were honoured to have a visiting guest lecture delivered by Professor Aliko Ahmed, Chair of Public Health Africa, and current Director of Public Health England for the East of England. Previously the Director of Public Health for Staffordshire NHS and County Council, and a founding member of CHAD.
The lecture entitled ‘Global Health Interdependencies – An asset based approach to sustainable health in Africa‘, took place at the Leek Road Campus, Stoke, on on Thursday 2nd March 2017.
Speaking to a captivated audience Professor Ahmed, amongst many other things talked of the challenges we face as an interdependent world, the potential solutions and what can be achieved in the future, he also touched upon health as a human right and the Ebola virus. The lecture was followed by a lively question and answer session.
The Event was well attended by representatives from the local authorities, organisations, staff and students from the University.
