CHAD Launch: we are delighted to announce the launch of the Centre for Health and Development, which will take place on September 19th 2016. CHAD is a unique collaboration between Staffordshire University, Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Staffordshire County Council.
CHAD is a University-wide collaborative research centre developing the science and practice of health equity.
We are committed to ensuring that health equity research is relevant, accessible and meaningful to all. Working in partnership with local agencies and communities, we aim to ensure that CHAD research is community-led and makes a difference to people’s lives.
Our keynote speaker, Professor Sir Michael Marmot chaired the WHO Commission on Social Determinants of Health (2005-8). The British Government appointed him to conduct a review of social determinants and health inequalities, the resulting Marmot Review and its recommendations are now being implemented in three-quarters of local authorities in England.
